LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT IS KEY FOR OUR STUDENTS' FUTURE SUCCESS

Whether you're job is specifically focused on student leadership or it's just a part of what you do, you know how important it is to help students develop the skills they need to be successful when they're asked to take charge

We used to think about leadership as something for the chosen few. Now we know that any of us might be asked to lead at different times of our lives - whether on campus, at work, or in our community.

The question is, when that call arises, have we learned the skills we need to lead effectively? Have our students?

Students need opportunities to learn about leadership and develop the skills they need to be an effective leader. But sometimes that's easier said than done. If you're working in higher education, you're probably stressed and overwhelmed.

The thought of coming up with one more program or initiative may sound like a good idea - or even necessary to make sure you're achieving your goals for the year, but you and your team just don't have the time or energy to devote to it. Quite frankly, you're probably exhausted.

So if you want to provide leadership development opportunities for your students, but you've already got too much on your plate, what are your options?

You and your team shouldn't have to work yourselves to exhaustion to provide what your students need.

Imagine what it would be like to…

...Provide students with the powerful CliftonStrengths (formerly StrengthsQuest) framework to help them better understand their Authentic Leadership Style.

...Give students interactive leadership development sessions that give them the tools they need to grow and develop.

...Have the ability to use that framework throughout the year to help guide and support students on their journey.

...Sit back and let someone else do it!

We get it...

We've been working with student leaders for over 20 years. We know how rewarding it is to help students grow into confident and empowered leaders.

We also know how challenging it can be to provide the engaging and meaningful opportunities needed help them get there, especially when there's so many other things on your plate.

We want to help reduce your stress by provide you and your students with powerful leadership development training, so we created a wholistic & strengths-based leadership series designed for students and focused on individual talents.

LEADERSHIP SERIES

The Transformational Series That Gives Students The Tools They
Need To Become Authentic, Empowered Leaders

Whether your students are already on the way to honing their leadership skills or they don't yet consider themselves leaders, our Student Leadership Series helps students understand their talents and how they can use those talents to harness their authentic leadership style.

This series can be customized to suit your specific needs and learning objectives and we'll do most of the work...

Choose as few as 3 sessions to get your students the training and support they need.

Sessions run 60 minutes, but can be combined for longer sessions or a workshop.

Choose from a variety of topics, so you're sure you're reaching your learning objectives.

Choose how many CliftonStrengths codes you anticipate you'll need (but you can buy more if needed).

Series can be done virtually or in-person (if you're within 30 miles of the St. Louis Metro Area).

We'll deliver high quality content, activities, and worksheets to keep your students engaged.

And all you have to do is...

  • Select the number of sessions you'd like

  • Select your topics

  • Decide how many CliftonStrengths codes you want, with the option to purchase additional codes if student demand is greater than you anticipated

  • Recruit and communicate with your students about the series!

Potential Student Leadership Series Topics

We've developed a number of options designed to help your students become authentic and empowered leaders.

Our core session is Becoming Your Best Self, so students have a basic understanding of the CliftonStrengths (formerly StrengthsQuest). But once your students know the basics, you can select whichever topics work best for you and your students...

Becoming Your Best Self

Everyone has talents, but we don’t always understand what they are or how they impact us on a daily basis.

In this session, we'll discuss:

  • What the results of your CliftonStrengths Top 5 Report really mean

  • How your talents can show up for you in productive and not so productive ways

  • How to invest in your talents, so they develop in to Strengths

Strengths Based Leadership

New leaders are enthusiastic, but don’t always know how to effectively lead their team. We’ll talk about what successful leaders do – and don’t do – to build effective teams.

In this session, we'll discuss:

  • The Four Needs of Followers

  • How to use focus on your talents and those of your team to be more successful

  • How to become more aware of your own filters and biases that can keep you from being an effective leader

Managing Stress & Self-Care

Leaders are under more stress than their followers. When we don't manage our stress and  we’re not engaging in regular self-care, it impacts our ability to lead successfully.

In this session, we'll discuss:

  • The impact stress really has on our bodies, minds, and our work.

  • How to develop a daily self-care practice.

  • How your talents can help you manager your stress, but might also be causing you more stress

Discovering Your Authentic Leadership Style

There’s a myth floating around that the best leaders are good at everything. In reality, the greatest leaders lean into their Strengths.

In this session, we'll discuss:

  • How to use your CliftonStrengths report to discover your authentic leadership style – one that’s based on what you do best.

  • How to write your own leadership statement that reflects your unique style, so you stay focused on your Strengths Zone

Complementary Partnerships

Leaders often feel like they need to be good at and do everything themselves. When you take a strengths approach to leadership, everyone focuses on the things they do best.

In this session, we'll discuss:

  • How to identify the things you should be spending your time and energy doing.

  • How to identify the things you shouldn't be spending your time and energy doing.

  • How to create successful partnerships with other leaders or members of your team, so everyone is focusing on what they do best.

Conflict Resolution

Unresolved conflict can have a negative impact on a team’s engagement and productivity, whether it's between two team members or a team member and it's leader.

In this session, we'll discuss:

  • How everyone's unique talents come with filters and biases that can lead to conflict with others

  • How to use the strengths framework to de-escalate conflict between individuals

  • How to use the strengths framework to prevent conflict on your team.

Effective Habits

Humans run on habits, including ones connected to our talents. When habits are aligned with goals, we reach them. Then they're not, we become frustrated with ourselves or others if they aren't accomplishing what the things they need to for their role.

In this session, we’ll discuss:

  • What habits are and why it's so vital you have the right ones

  • How to assess your habits and identify the ones holding you back

  • How to change or create new habits so they are more aligned with your goals

Strengths Based Interview Skills

Interviewing can be a stressful process. Even if students are effective leaders on campus, if they can't express their skills and accomplishments during an interview they'll eventually be a leader without a team.

In this session, we’ll discuss:

  • How to highlight your talents and accomplishments during an interview

  • How to communicate more effectively using the CliftonStrengths framework

  • How to develop a personal brand to keep you focused during interviews

What's Included in the Student Leadership Series?

High Quality, Strengths-Based Content

Our Student Leadership Series topics are specifically designed to equip students with leadership skills and knowledge specifically tailored to their personal strengths. We use  the CliftonStrengths framework in each session so that students aren't just learning general concepts, but understand how they can apply and implement what they've learned in relation to their unique talent set.

Worksheets & Self-Reflection Tools

We know that student engagement in the content is crucial for student learning. We've prepared worksheets and tools for students to reflect on how they lead and how they use their talents. Some of these resources are used during the session and others can be used by students afterward to continue their growth.

Customizable Packages

We know every institution and student needs different things, so much of the Student Leadership Series is customizable. You can do as few as three sessions of as many as you're students (and your budget) can handle. Sessions typically run 60-minutes, but if your students would prefer to stack them and do several sessions at once, you can do that too. You can choose your schedule as well - once a month, weekly for a short period of time,  etc. You get to choose the topics that best suit your needs. If there's a topic you're interested in that isn't listed here, we'll work with you to develop something new.

CliftonStrengths (formerly StrengthsQuest) Assessment Access

Knowing what your talents are and how to maximize them is crucial to becoming an effective leader! Students will receive a code to access their Top 5 Talent Themes, so they can get clarity on their dominant talents and get a more focused look at how they could be using their talents to increase their effectiveness as a leader. You'll be able to purchase the customized amount of codes you need for your group at a discounted rate of $15 each. If more students sign up than you thought, you can purchase more at that rate. If your students have already taken the assessment, you don't have to worry about this expense.

Series Development Meetings

While we can provide and deliver the content for you, we don't have the relationship with them that you do. In order to create an effective series for your institution, each package includes two 60-minute meetings with you and your team to organize the series, brainstorm ideas so you can market and communicate with your students about the series, and to discuss potential follow up activities.
