We are under ever increasing amounts of stress – budget cuts, low enrollments, retention issues, a never-ending workload, a pandemic, a reinvigorated social justice movement – the list seems to go on and on.
Stress has such a negative impact on our bodies, minds, and spirits, that we are literally the worst versions of ourselves when we don’t stop the stress response and replenish ourselves. If you pride yourself on giving your best to others, what does your best look like when you’re constantly stressed?
Self-care typically gets put on hold until “things slow down” or we make sure everyone else is taken care of first. We imagine having time for a massage, to read, or just to do nothing. But self-care isn’t about scheduling occasional breaks, it’s about taking care of yourself on a daily basis.

The real impact stress actually has on us, physically, mentally, and emotionally (it’s much worse than you think).
How to reframe self-care as a daily practice that can realistically fit into your schedule.
