I Want To...
Be More Assertive
Do you find yourself having trouble saying no? Do you often feel like others are controlling your life? Are you comfortable giving your opinion or speaking up for yourself? Do you avoid confrontation at all costs? Maybe you’re exhausted from running around doing what other people need instead of what you need.
Most people have never been taught to be assertive or even what it really is. As a result, most people don’t know how to effectively communicate how they feel, what they need, or establish healthy boundaries.
How Can Strengths University Help?
Assertiveness isn’t about getting your way or creating conflict, it’s simply the ability to advocate for yourself - your beliefs, your needs, and setting healthy boundaries. Our coaches have years of experience training students and staff members how to be assertive. We combine assertiveness training with Strengths Coaching to help you be a better advocate for yourself. This means becoming more confident in finding your voice and using it to express your feelings, needs, and what you are and are not willing to do for others. Being more assertive means taking back control of your time and your life.

Strengths coaching saved me from myself. It wasn’t until I started strengths coaching with Anne that I realized my passive personality was getting in my way. With Anne’s help I was able to understand myself more and find strategies to keep myself from continuing to be passive and actively speaking out for myself and my needs. Throughout my three sessions, Anne actively listened to what I had to say and tailored the experience to my needs. Anne empowered me to become a stronger woman and I can never thank her enough for what she did for me. The beauty of the program is that it uses your strengths to help you, help yourself. The strengths coaches help you make connections and suggest strategies that you may not have thought of yet. If you are thinking about getting coached or even becoming a coach yourself DO IT! You won’t regret it, I know I didn’t.
